Series storyline:
England begin a major white-ball assignment with Harry Brook
leading both formats, while Sri Lanka arrive with separate
leadership for the T20Is and ODIs. The tour also gives England
another opportunity to develop their white-ball plans ahead of
the 2027 World Cup.
England's White-Ball Challenge
England have named 16-member squads for both formats. Harry Brook leads the side across the six matches, while the squad includes established names alongside new white-ball opportunities.
The England setup has also gained a major new voice, with former England captain Kevin Pietersen joining as a specialist white-ball mentor through the 2027 World Cup. His arrival gives Brendon McCullum's coaching group another experienced perspective as England look to strengthen their white-ball cricket.
Sri Lanka's Challenge
Sri Lanka have named separate squads for the T20I and ODI legs. Charith Asalanka returns to the setup as T20I captain, while Kusal Mendis leads the ODI side. Charith Asalanka is vice-captain across both formats.
Pathum Nissanka also returns to bolster the Sri Lankan batting lineup, adding another major player for England's bowlers to handle across the tour.
Why This Series Matters
The six matches offer both teams valuable competitive cricket across two formats. The T20Is provide immediate opportunities to test attacking combinations, while the ODI leg becomes especially important with the 2027 World Cup on the horizon.
For England, the series is also part of the wider rebuild and refinement of their white-ball teams under McCullum. For Sri Lanka, it is a chance to challenge a strong home side across conditions very different from those they normally experience.
