What Is The Only Living Pickpocket in New York About?
The film follows Harry Lehman, played by John Turturro, an aging pickpocket whose traditional skills are becoming less useful in a city increasingly shaped by cards, digital payments and changing habits. With fewer opportunities to make money from his old trade, Harry also has to care for his disabled wife, Rosie.
His situation takes a dangerous turn when he steals a wallet from the wrong person and becomes involved with a valuable USB drive. The item connects him to a vengeful crime family, leaving him racing through New York to put things right before the situation gets worse.
Rather than centering on a planned heist or a young apprentice, the official synopsis describes a desperate attempt to recover from a theft gone wrong. The story places Harry's practical struggle to survive alongside the consequences of a split-second decision.
Harry is not a high-tech criminal mastermind. He is an old-school pickpocket trying to make a living in a world where his skills have less value. A seemingly ordinary theft pushes him into a much more dangerous situation.
